All those interested in participating on a Technical Crew for the musical: you can still get involved, even if you didn't make it to the crew sign-up meeting last week. Please stop by the theatre this Tuesday or Thursday at 3:30 to meet with the Technical Director, Mr. Duvernoy. The tech crews will start meeting this week.

Re: SENIOR PHOTO REQUIREMENTS & SUBMISSION DATES

Congratulations on your upcoming senior year of high school. This is an extremely important and exciting time for all of you. I hope you have had an enjoyable, restful summer and have been thinking about your yearbook senior portrait. The due date will be here before you know it, and the following information will help you plan for your senior portraits and ensure that your photographs in the yearbook will be treasured by you for a lifetime. The main focus of a yearbook should be the seniors and their accomplishments. As adviser of the CVU yearbook, my staff and I will work hard to achieve this.

The senior section of the 2011 yearbook will include 2 pictures of every senior. Every senior should submit their “official” senior portrait and either a baby picture or a candid. Outlined below are the specifics on what we need from you:

1. Your senior portrait AND

2. A baby / youth picture OR a candid

SENIOR PORTRAITS - All senior portraits should be wallet sized (3 ½ “ x 2 ½”) and can be submitted in either black and white or color. Remember that our yearbook is magazine quality printing, so please be advised that an amateur snapshot is not considered a yearbook senior portrait. If you are submitting a 3 x 5 or 4 x 6 picture (prints normally taken with a 35mm camera), please be aware that the yearbook staff may need to crop the picture to fit the appropriate space. Try to stay within the size requirements as you may lose parts of the photograph which you want included.

If your senior portrait is taken with a digital camera, be sure the minimum resolution is 300 dpi. PLEASE DO NOT submit your digital picture on photo paper. You will be very disappointed with the quality of the photo in the yearbook. The quality of the image will be much better if you submit the photo via e-mail or on CD.

BABY/YOUTH PICTURE OR CANDID – You have a choice of submitting either a baby/youth picture OR a candid. This photo can be submitted in any size and can be either black and white or color. The candid you select should represent activities, hobbies, sports, etc. that you participate in, or you can choose to submit a baby or youth picture that is a favorite. If you choose a candid photograph, please be sure it is respectful and appropriate for yearbook use. Photos can be submitted in either black & white or color; however, the senior section will be printed in black & white. Again, please be sure that the photograph has all the necessary contact information on the back, especially your name.

HOW TO SUBMIT PHOTOS - In order to make this process as easy as possible, we are providing several options for photo submission:

1. Photos can be submitted to your House Office (there will be a drop off box for senior photos in each house office);

2. By e-mail to cwedge@cvuhs.org;

3. By mail to the high school, C/O Colleen Wedge, Yearbook Advisor; or

4. Online. Log on to: images.jostens.com. Enter Login ID: 400000852. Password: cvu (CVU must be in lowercase). Browse to select the photo (s) you wish to upload, click on “Image Share”.

Be sure to include your first and last name on the back of all photographs or clearly label the CD, if submitted in this format. Please print neatly. If photos are submitted via e-mail, please identify the name of the senior in the subject line or body of the e-mail. Contact information either on the back of the photos, on the CD, or in the body of the e-mail is important in case the staff needs additional information.

If you do NOT submit a senior portrait, we will AUTOMATICALLY use your school ID picture. Lifetouch, our official school photographer, will be here from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Monday, September 27 for all student portraits.

DUE DATE: ALL PICTURES (SENIOR PORTRAIT, BABY PICTURE OR CANDID) WILL BE DUE ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2010. If you have trouble meeting this deadline, please notify me immediately. The Yearbook Staff has strict production deadlines to meet and your cooperation helps us meet our due dates.

Transportation Changes on the Horizon

As school begins next year some significant changes are in store for Champlain Valley Union and Hinesburg Community school students as they ride to school each day. A significant amount of time has been spent this spring working to significantly lower costs associated with school transportation without seriously diminishing services to students. Towards that end the following changes are planned for September 1, 2010:

For Hinesburg students Pre K-12
The morning runs through Hinesburg will now be picking up BOTH high school and elementary/middle school students. Buses will be fuller than they have in the past. The afternoon runs will remain as they have been in the past with separate buses leaving the two schools for runs through the community.

For Champlain Valley Union High School
The morning runs will now be scheduled to arrive at the high school in support of FIRST BLOCK (8:00 AM), not early block. The bus routes will no longer go door to door in neighborhoods instead they will be routed on main routes and high school students will be walking a bit further to get to the bus stop. Buses will be fuller and routes will be a bit shorter in overall length.

Express Bus service from Shelburne and Williston as currently scheduled will be eliminated and instead an early block bus will be provided from the centers of our five outlying communities in Charlotte, Hinesburg, Saint George, Shelburne and Williston in time to arrive at CVU by 7:30.

These changes will allow both CVU and HCS save upwards of $150,000 in annual transportation expense. Anticipated bus routes for next school year have already been posted to the websites for both schools and will be revised and finalized before the start of the school year.

Algebra I, Algebra. II, or Geometry
Intro to Art

Writing Prose still has openings!

Algebra I, Geometry I, and Algebra II are for students who have already taken these full year courses at CVU and would like to improve their skills and overall grade. This class has a focus on individual conceptual weaknesses in order to be better prepared for their next math course at CVU. This is not a replacement for any full year CVU math course.

This course will run from Tuesday-Friday, June 22nd-25th and Monday-Thursday, June 28th-July 1from 9 AM until 1 PM.

Cost for course is $300 and must be paid in full at the time of registration.
